A trained journalist with a masters degree from Lamar University, a masters from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, as well as extensive coursework toward a masters of science in psychology from the University of New Orleans,  Calvert founded the Tribune Newspapers in 2007.

Her experiences as an investigative, award winning reporter (She won Journalist of the Year from the Houston Press Club among many other awards for reporting and writing), professor and chair of the journalism department for Lone Star College-Kingwood and vice president of editorial for a large group of community weeklies provides her with a triple dose of bankable skills that cover every aspect of the journalism field.

Solid reporting. Careful interviews. Respect and curiosity for people and places.

I am a native Houstonian who, after completing my education, served in the US Air Force-Military Police.  After the service, I joined Southern Pacific Railroad as a special investigator and worked all over the Southwest US investigating theft, smuggling and other crimes. In the 80s, I joined the Harris County Sheriff's Department followed by the Harris County Constable's Office where I rose through the ranks until becoming Assistant Chief. I was chosen as the McKay Citizen of the Year by the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce in 2007. I retired in 2006 and founded the Tribune Newspapers, with my wife Cynthia. I am a golfer and have written extensively about golf courses throughout the US, Europe, the Caribbean and Canada. I am an award winning photographer whose photographs appear frequently in The Tribunes. When not golfing or fishing, I am hanging out with my good friend, Cash.

I grew up on a farm in New Mexico and miss eating hot chile and having four seasons. I didn't start college until I was already a mother and double majored in English and anthropology. I received an Honors B.A. from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and was named “Outstanding Student” in English. My honors thesis is titled “The Enduring and Ever-Changing Legend of La Llorona.” I worked as a police reporter for a bit before staying home in Kingwood to raise my two daughters. My hobbies include reading, gardening, cooking and traveling.

I was born and raised in Minnesota. My BS is in Professional Photography and I worked as a Commercial Photographer for 15 years. Having endured the cold and snow for far too long, I moved from Frostbite Falls to Texas in 1985 and have only gone back to visit my Minnesota friends and relatives in the summer. I changed professions in Texas when I owned two newspapers in East Texas and became used to working 24/7 in the news industry. Still in the newspaper business but working far less hours and enjoying it more at The Tribune.
