A chance to make a positive impact

It’s that time of year again! The end of the school year and children are beginning to talk excitedly about their summer plans.
I remember summers when my son Kyle, who has an intellectual disability and a significant seizure disorder, was growing up. I often thought of summers as a challenge given the very limited opportunities to keep him busy. There were few things that he could fully participate in, he had no friends and he needed constant supervision due to his medical condition. We were fortunate that he qualified for summer school a few hours a day but he was alone most of the time and we struggled to find things to keep his attention. I was lucky I did not need to work because there weren’t any options for suitable, affordable childcare.
Then, 10 years ago this September, Village Learning & Achievement Center was founded! Ever since then Kyle has a place to not only enjoy the summer, but the entire year! He is pleased to get to make choices each day to participate in activities he prefers to do such as bowling, attending plays, dancing, learning computer skills, cooking and recreational activities. We encourage our Villagers to participate in making choices about how they spend their time. We also recognize the programs and services we provide for our clients help their families have choices too, making a positive impact on the individual, their family, and our community. Village Learning & Achievement Center has brought to the forefront the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families, and many in our community have embraced our vision.
Village Learning & Achievement Center is committed to providing quality community-based services to children and adults with disabilities. We will help more than 200 persons with disabilities this year by providing a day program, after-school care, in-home training, transition services, transportation, residential services and more! We improve the lives of individuals with disabilities who have autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, blindness, deafness, and many other conditions. We help families provide a more meaningful life for their child.
Won’t you please consider making a donation to Village Learning & Achievement Center so we can continue to provide individuals with disabilities with choices in their lives? We are committed to ensuring they have opportunities to achieve lives of quality and meaning. We believe such supports can only be provided in a community setting. We thank you for your support in helping us help others!
