Mafrige, experienced civil litigation, seeks 164th judicial post

Sophia Mafrige is a native Houstonian who grew up in the Garden Oaks area of Houston. She graduated from South Texas College of Law and has been practicing law since November 1988. In January 1991, Mafrige opened her own office focusing on civil litigation, family law and real estate related matters. In 2002 she became a certified mediator through the University of Houston Law School’s A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center. She obtained her real estate sales agent license in 2005. In 2008 she was appointed to the City of Houston Police Officer’s Civil Service Commission and is chair of that commission. She serves the community through volunteer work for St. George Orthodox Christian Church, International Orthodox Christian Charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Houston committee and South Texas College of Law’s advocacy program as a moot court and mock trial judge. Mafrige has volunteered her time and supported numerous Republican candidates, and has sought office twice herself in the March 1998 and May 2012 Republican primaries. She is a member of Houston Professional Republican Women, Magic Circle Republican Women, Downtown Houston Pachyderm, Greater Houston Pachyderm, Texas Tea Party Republican Women and Harris County’s Republican Leadership Council.
