McKay Bridge project nears completion

Monday, July 09, 2012

Geoffrey Geiger

The McKay bridge linking Atascocita and Huffman is part of a $1.5 million reconstruction project by Millis Development and Construction. The project targets a reinforcement of soil and preventative maintenance along the bridge. The preventative measures include resurfacing of the 1.5 mile stretch of roadway, expecting to be completed in August, according to a Texas Department of Transportation spokesman. Two workers were injured after falling nearly 10 feet, recently, on July 5 during routine construction. According to reports, both were transported to Memorial Hermann after a piece of equipment may have knocked them off the bridge. No further details were available by press time.
