Dominium Development and Acquisition purchases Humble Memorial Gardens
Dominium Development and Acquisition, LLC recently announced the acquisition of Humble Memorial Gardens, a 75-unit complex providing affordable housing to seniors in Humble. The acquisition was finalized last month and Dominium Management Services has been brought in to manage the facility. The acquisition of Humble Memorial Gardens is Dominium’s ninth property ownership in Texas.
“Humble Memorial Gardens was an attractive property that fits in well with our existing portfolio,” said Chris Barnes, project partner, Dominium Development and Acquisition. “This is a great acquisition for us and we’re excited to expand our presence in Houston, which was a new market for us in the last 12 months.”
The Humble Memorial Gardens complex was originally constructed in 2005.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) recently announced the 2010 contractors of the year. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s “before and after” photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.
Quality Home Improvements in Kingwood garnered a win for “best residential kitchen remodel with a total project cost of $40,001 - $80,000.”

Lone Star College System presents inaugural Women’s Conference
Lone Star College System and Lone Star Corporate College are holding the first Women’s Conference Friday, Feb. 19. The conference, which will be held at LSC-Montgomery from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., is designed to inform, inspire and challenge professional women. The theme is “Step Up and Reach Your Potential.” LSCS officials said that the purpose of this inaugural event is to partner established women executives with new business professionals, to encourage them to reach their potential – both in and out of the workplace.
Attendees will hear two keynote presentations – one by Fawn Germer, bestselling author and motivational speaker, and one by Nelda Luce Blair, community leader and chairman of the board of directors for The Woodlands Township.

KMCO supports Huffman ISD with $2,500 check presentation
For the second year in a row, KMCO was given the “Educational Outreach Award” by the “Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates,” or SOCMA. This is the second year the award has been presented, and KMCO has won both years. SOCMA’s criteria is to identify the company with the greatest commitment to their local school district and community. SOCMA congratulated KMCO as recipient of the “Educational Outreach Award” and “Bronze Award,” praising their active participation in the ChemStewards Program, their involvement with various educational programs, and their dedication to continuous improvement.

Possibilities for Women Workshop
This workshop, hosted by Jill Hickman Companies, is aimed at helping participants discover a path to clarity and a life of fulfillment. It will be held on Feb. 11 from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. In a supportive group, determine goals and important action steps. Participants will also create a personal 2010 journey and action map to make the year ahead turn possibilities into realities. The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce is located at 110 W.
