-Quorum not met, next step uncertain-
The Atascocita Community Improvement Association recently sent out a proxy vote, asking residents to vote on an assessment that would require an additional $30 per month fee for all homeowners, for the purpose of purchasing the Atascocita Golf Course and Country Club.
A Special Meeting of the board was held on Monday, March 29 in order to hear resident’s concerns and collect the proxy votes.
Counting of the votes began at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, under the direction of Community Asset Management, the HOA management company which oversees the operations of the ACIA.
The result of the counting: the ACIA did not achieve a quorum. The number of votes required to meet quorum was 1,518; the final vote count was 1,475.
The number of votes FOR the assessment: 368; the number of votes AGAINST the assessment: 1,107.
According to David Johnson, president of CAM, the board is not required to repeat the process in an effort to reach quorum. That decision is at the discretion of the ACIA board, and as yet has not been determined.
