Biography:
Buddy Hicks has been married to his wife, Carolyn, for 39
years and they have two daughters and one son. His education
and training include: Bachelor of Science at Southwestern
State University, Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity
School of T.C.U., Master of Theology from University of St.
Thomas and Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary.
He has served as an ordained minister for 43 years. He is a
college professor and is a licensed clinical pastoral
counselor with National Christian Counselors. He was the
principal of a parochial school (K-12). He has served as a
lecturer on college campuses, churches, and leadership
training schools in America, Europe, and Asia. He has also
served consultant to small businesses, churches and
compassion ministries.
He has been active in the community and founded several
organizations including: Fuel Cyber Café and Humble Skate
Park (a college scholarship program for youth) and "Straight
Talk Radio," a live daily radio show in Austin, Texas, which
has been broadcasting for eight years. He is founder and
director of Somebody Cares Humble (a compassion-based
ministry to help empower people out of poverty to the job
market.) He is also founder of Humble Area Community
Development Center, Somebody Cares Daycare and he founded
and pastured various churches throughout the U.S.
Hicks is experienced in directing emergency relief teams and
supplies for hurricane victims and was a resource during the
recent hurricanes in Texas and Louisiana. He developed a
"Faith-based Initial Response Network" to better equip and
train first-response efforts in natural and man-made
disasters.
Other accomplishments or credits include writing a book,
"Character Sketches, A Reflective Insight Into the Character
of God" and serving as a board member of Humble Area Chamber
of Commerce. He is listed in "Who's Who of Intellectuals,
"Who's Who in Small Businesses and Who's Who of
Professionals."
