Biography:

"When I reflect on my life to date, I am amazed by the twists and turns that have shaped who I am today. I grew up in Milwaukee, where people call themselves "cheese heads." During this time, I spent countless hours in band, choir, drawing, and writing poetry. One year, the local library opened up a section for young, inspiring writers. They allowed books to be written by kids, bound or stapled, and then available as a library book to be checked out. I felt like a real author and told all my friends to checkout my book. That was truly exciting. My interest in creative arts carried with me through high school where I rigorously studied art history and humanities. I quickly realized that I have an interest in art in general, including Renaissance architecture, painting, photography, and computer design. I aspire to go to France and Italy to see the sites that I researched throughout several books. I want to see them "come to life." In 1998, I earned a bachelors degree from Concordia – Seward, Nebraska in studio/graphic design. During that summer I married my husband, Clint. One of my first jobs was as a juvenile diversion coordinator. In this role, I taught life skills to first-time juvenile offenders and wrote grants. I loved this job, but my husband graduated and received a "call" as a DCE (director of Christian education), which brought us to Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis, I taught adult computer classes, tested software and lead CBT (computer based training) development. Clint received a chance to be a DCE at his home church, Lamb of God, in Humble, Texas. We jumped at the chance for him to "go home." We have called Humble "home" since November 2004. I am currently employed by PROS as a project lead and technical writer. As you know, I am also a correspondent for your Tribune. Each time I write, I feel that same excitement as when I wrote that library book growing up in Milwaukee.
