Biography:
Honored four times by the
Houston Press Club, including the prestigious Journalist of
the Year, editor Cynthia Calvert has more than a decade of
community newspaper experience.
In addition to co-owning the
Tribune Newspapers, she is a faculty member and director of
the communications program at Kingwood College and runs the
internship program in conjunction with the Tribunes.
She has served on many
community boards, including Chairman of the Board for the
Humble Area Chamber of Commerce (2002) and the Community
Chamber of Commerce (2006).
She is married to Harris
County Precinct 4 Constable Asst. Chief Larry Shiflet. Both
her children, Wilson and Olivia, have extensive experience
working for the newspapers. Calvert believes in community
journalism and the power a community has when it works
together for a common cause. |
