Atascocita Presbyterian Church has been certified through February 2020 as an Earth Care Congregation by Presbyterian Church USA’s Presbyterian Hunger Program. This honor speaks to the substantial commitment undertaken by Atascocita Presbyterian to care for God’s earth.

To become an Earth Care Congregation, the church affirmed an Earth Care Pledge to integrate environmental practices and opportunities into all facets of church life and to complete projects and activities in the fields of worship, education, facilities and outreach. Started in 2010 by the Presbyterian Church USA Environmental Ministries, the goal of this program is to inspire churches to care for God’s earth in a holistic way by integrating earth care into all aspects of church life.

The Earth Care Congregation certification recognizes churches making a serious commitment to faithfully obey God’s charge to “till and keep” the garden. The certification honors congregations for their dedication and encourages others to follow their example.

“It is exciting that Atascocita Presbyterian Church is one of 230 churches that chose to dedicate themselves to intentional care of God’s earth this year. The congregation’s activities and commitment will inspire others to respond intentionally to God’s call to care for the earth,” said Jessica Maudlin, associate for Sustainable Living and Earth Care Concerns for the Presbyterian Church (USA).
