Monday morning, April 14th, the 1st through 5th grade students of SMMCS arrived with their Science Fair projects. Each student found their spot in the FLC and placed their projects neatly on the tables. Individually, the grade levels were called down, and one by one, the students were given the opportunity to present their project to the judges. After the 5th grade finished, the judges deliberated and chose a 1st through 3rd place winner in each grade level, as well as a 1st through 3rd place overall winners. And the winners are (in order of 1st to 3rd place): 1st Grade-Madeline Scarborogh, Megan Simms, and Connor McGovern 2nd Grade-Kassidy Porche, Francisco Garcia, and Christina Vargas 3rd Grade-Ciara Madigan, Lauren Martinez, and Luke Pleasant 4th Grade-Jonathan McGovern, Madelyn Felix, and Tristen Duhon 5th Grade-Nicholas Vargas, Damahr Riggs, and Sarah Meyer Overall Winners– Nicholas Vargas and Madeliene Scarborough, shared 1st place; Jonathan McGovern, 2nd place; and Kassidy Porche, 3rd place We would like to congratulate all our school winners and all the students who participated, but the story does not stop there! The 1st and 2nd place winners from each grade level were invited to participate in the Regional Archdiocesan Science Fair, which was held Wednesday, April 16th at St. Mary of the Purification in Houston. Approximately 135 students from throughout the archdiocese competed for 1st through 3rd place, as well as Honorable Mention in each grade level. We are so pleased and proud to announce that of the ten students representing SMMCS, five placed in their level: 5th grade-Nicholas Vargas, 1st place 4th grade-Madelyn Felix, 1st place 3rd grade-Lauren Martinez, 2nd place 2nd grade-Kassidy Porche, Honorable Mention 1st grade-Megan Simms, 2nd place This is absolutely incredible!!!!
