Enjoy a new community event that benefits the YMCA. Ashlar Development and The Groves will host a fun run to celebrate the opening of the new road connecting Madera Run and Woodland Hills Drive on Dec. 8.

With the new connection, drive time to Beltway 8 will be reduced to just a five-minute commute for Groves residents, making The Groves one of the only master-planned communities within five minutes of the beltway.

Residents and the public are invited to register for the holiday-themed fun run, which will include food trucks, music, drinks, giveaways, opportunities to donate, and more family-friendly activities.

Race proceeds will benefit the YMCA of Greater Houston and Insperity Adaptive Sports Complex.

The complex provides children with disabilities and special needs a barrier-free environment to play and participate in team sports and features two Miracle League multi-purpose fields.

The race will start and end in the newly opened West Lake Middle School parking lot.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the 204,000-square-foot middle school, which offers a premier STEAM education program.

The run will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 from 8-10 a.m. at 11810 Madera Run Pkwy.

The cost is $20 to sign up before Nov. 8; $25 after that date. Children 5 and under are free.
