Fifty years of Rotary: Making a difference in our community
Humble Rotary Club is expanding their giving in the greater Lake Houston area. To obtain these needed funds, Rotary will host an 18-hole scramble Friday, Oct. 20 at the popular Oakhurst Golf Club with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. The public is invited to join this organization and compete for a chance to win for a chance to win $5,000 with a hole-in-one. All Longest Drive proceeds will go to benefit the In the Pink of Health Northeast Luncheon which is benefiting Project Mammogram through the Northeast Hospital Foundation. All participants will receive a complimentary meal ticket for the annual Humble Rotary Catfish Festival set for Saturday, May 5, 2018.
The Rotary Club of Humble has raised more than $1.8 million for humanitarian needs in the past 17 years. More than $100,000 has been invested in humanitarian needs during the past year. $32,000 has been given to support 10 water projects internationally over the years. Local support has been provided to the Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Mission Northeast, Village Learning Center, FamilyTime, YMCA, Boy Scouts, scholarships and FFA scholarships. Additionally, the Rotary offers support and dedication to the youth exchange program and the new Junior Rotary Leadership Program for Humble ISD.
