Martina Lemond Dixon

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has selected Humble ISD Trustee Martina Lemond Dixon to the Leadership TASB Class of 2019. She joins 34 school board leaders from across the state selected to the year-long leadership program through a competitive application process.

“I am honored to be a part of an incredible group of school board members who are committed to serving students and teachers throughout Texas,” she said.

TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 for school board members, the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.3 million public school students.

Dixon was elected to the Humble ISD School Board in 2017. She serves as the Board Parliamentarian, Chair of the Building and Planning Committee, as an Audit Committee Member, and is the Board’s Kingwood Super Neighborhood Council Representative.

She earned a bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and a post-baccalaureate in construction management and a master’s degree in education from Louisiana State University. She and her husband Scott live in Kingwood and have four children.

She serves on the Lake Houston Family YMCA Board and was the Leadership Lake Houston 2014 Class President, which is a program sponsored by the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce. Dixon has 10 years of teaching experience in public schools, eight of which were in Galena Park ISD. She currently is a teacher in Spring ISD.

Passionate about education and providing outstanding learning experiences for students, she served on the Humble ISD Education Foundation Board, the Humble ISD PTA Council Executive Board, and she was elected to the School Board at the American Community School in Abu Dhabi in 2008.

She looks forward to working side by side with school board members from across Texas and plans to bring back what she has learned to the Humble ISD Board Room. She hopes her participation in Leadership TASB will help her continue to be an advocate for students, teachers, and the Humble ISD community.

Graduates of Leadership TASB earn the designation of Master Trustee from TASB. Humble ISD School Board Vice President Nancy Morrison and Immediate Past President Angela Conrad have earned the Master Trustee designation from TASB through the program.
