Name: Karen Boughton
Position: Columnist

Biography:

Karen Boughton began her love of food with her love for her Greek Grandmother, Sophia. She watched and assisted her as she created wonderful dishes from her heart. Her passion for food continued to grow as she worked at various restaurants in Akron Ohio. With her Grandparents as well as her parents owning and running family restaurants, it is no wonder her Fine Art studies at The University of Akron, are only used when she is creating the look or mood of the room where her food is being served to family and friends.

After moving to the Gulf coast with her family in 1978, she continued her love affair with foods as she worked in Corpus Christi for the Amana Company as their instructional cook on television. Karen continued to share her knowledge of foods while employed for ClubCorp for sixteen years. She started at The Deerwood Club as their Catering and food and Beverage Manager and went on to become the Regional Society Manager as well as Regional Manager of Catering and Marketing. She moved on to an assignment as General Manager of the Greenspoint Club, then Club Manager of Revenues at The Clubs of Kingwood before retired from ClubCorp in 2002. Karen is currently the Marketing Director for Friendswood Development Company for Northeast Houston and Montgomery County where she also plans all of their catered special-events.

Her husband of 37 years, Philip Boughton, as well as their 3 daughters, son-in-laws and six grandchildren never say no when she asks "Are you hungry? Let me fix you something'".
