Happy, happy birthday to two September babies who are so dear to me – Danny and Geralyn Sullivan!  Geralyn’s many friends and family gathered at Raffa’s to celebrate over drinks and nibbles. Seen cheering on the birthday girl were Daniel Ledoux, Lynn Fields, Kelly and Rick Paull, David and Paige Cherry, Chris Parker, Darryal and Connie Chandler, CJ Johnson, Wayne and Millie Garrison, Holly Oberst, Cheri Huber, Mike and Layna Netek, and Terry and Mitzi Vaughn. Then off the Sullivans went for a Californian family adventure just in time for Danny’s birthday. Kelly and Michael Sullivan joined their parents for a memorable time filled with family fun.

Happy birthday also to two amazing ladies – Lynn Fields who is, of course, off on a fabulous cruise somewhere and Danell Fields, whose always fun Stilettos group was back from summer hiatus with a social at Raffa’s.

Drake McIntosh (who my son Carlos has known since they were knee high to a grasshopper) and Kathleen Woodruff met in Mr. Feudo’s freshman English class at Kingwood High School six years ago.  On the sixth anniversary of their first date, in a beautiful nuptial mass at St. Martha Catholic Church and under the direction of Monsignor Chester Borski assisted by two long-time family friends, Father Ryzard Kulma and Deacon Al O'Brien, Kathleen - in a long-sleeved ivory gown with delicate lace and beading on the bodice flowing down into a simple A-line skirt and dramatic open back and Drake – in a garnet-colored velvet tuxedo jacket with an ivory shirt, black pants, tie and vest, swore their vows in front of friends and parents – Phil and Shannon McIntosh, Olinda Woodruff and John Woodruff.  The Nathaniel Center was decked in reds and golds as Mark Linabury led the guests through the buffet line while “singing for their supper.” Eric and Erin Stern, Fred, Jean, Tommy and Tyler Nabity, Irene Parent, Ellie Plambeck, Jeremy Glasser, Chris Wolfgang, Donovan, Rachel, Talor, Javon, Annalise, Caden, Xavier, Dayvis, and Braylon Hauser, Tanya Davis, Judy and Kyle Lopez, Donald and Kathy Hawkins, Sophie Ray, Dennis and Lance Hedrick, Ruth McIntosh, Katherine Blonds, Blythe Sullivan, Simon McQuitty, Jennifer Niederstadt, Amanda Pinney, Cameron Boyter, Ryan Halleck, Jillian Zipperer, David Garrett, Jackson Bonds, Natalie Cormier, Alex Guidry, Clara Russo and Jason Watt – all enjoyed the mini edible spoons with brie and pomegranate, edible cups with bruschetta filling, the buffet of roast beef and chicken provencale and the adorable milk fountain surrounded by cookies.

Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson spoke to a crowd at the Lake Houston Pachyderm Club meeting, held at Amedeo's, recently. Kingwood resident Johnny Brooks welcomed a huge crowd to Commercial State Bank for the grand opening of their Kingwood location and to celebrate their 95th year of operations. Brooks, the bank's CEO and chairman, is quite the success story, having founded, run and owned several banks.   Amedeo's fed the happy attendees as the bank tellers were stationed in their windows, serving delicious beverages. Enjoying the afternoon were Danny Sullivan, Mark Linabury, Pam Dickson, Diane Havens, Judy Hinckfoot, Wayne Wassom, Pam Dickons and the Tribune - Patsy Oliver, Lawrence Kuslich, Colette Marshall and Jackie Crawford.

The Kingwood Area Republican Women will be celebrating Constitution Day by passing out Constitution books donated by Congressman Ted Poe at their meeting Sept. 28 at Kingwood Country Club. All members of the community are cordially invited to attend the 6:00 p.m. meeting. Republican candidates for the November elections will be the guest speakers. This celebration follows a successful KARW Constitution Day event at the Veterans Retreat Center on Sept. 17 where more than 250 veterans were honored. The event, which was organized by KARW Americanism Chair Luz Robellar, featured cake and barbecue plates for the veterans donated by Convention and Awards Chair Daniela Sumbera and KARW President Janie Branham. The event was a family affair with live music, kid's games and a car show.

I'm off to Vancouver for a bit to indulge in sushi and hugs with family from Australia before leaving for another little bit around parts of Asia. Please do drop me a line (or two or three) about things I'm missing out on as you guys go Out and About!  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
