The Greater Lake Houston Heart Walk, benefitting the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association, took place on Saturday, November 3rd at Lone Star College-Kingwood.
More than 1,500 people participated in the Heart Walk raising a heart pounding $206,000 to fund the mission to cure heart disease and stroke.
The Heart Walk is a non-competitive walk that promotes walking as part of a healthy lifestyle and raises funds to support cardiovascular research and educational programs throughout the nation. The walk also raises awareness of the nation’s two leading causes of death – heart disease and stroke.
Walkers laced up their shoes for the 5K and enjoyed engaging and educational activities hosted by the event sponsors. Activities included a Kid’s Zone, farmer’s market, CPR Trainings, DrumFIT classes, a game called F.A.S.T. Ball created to educate adults and children on the signs of a stroke, a Tribute Wall to honor family and friends impacted by the diseases, and more!
Survivors of heart disease and stroke were honored at the event and among those walking in support of the Association’s mission. Keith Isbell, 2018 Heart Walk Co-Chair, Survivor Honoree, and COO of Rolling Dough-a franchisee of Panera Bread, shared his story of courage and strength at the Heart Walk.
