Name: Trilla Cook Position: Correspondent
Biography:
Trilla Cook gained 10 years of experience working in state government offices such as the WV Office of Secretary of State; the WV State Legislature and as an investigative assistant for a government committee investigating white-collar crimes. She then enjoyed 10 years of volunteer work experience as her two children navigated through Humble ISD campuses in Kingwood. After studying at Kingwood College, the next 10 years were spent as an employee for Humble ISD, first as an elementary school hands-on-science lab instructor, later assisting district coordinators with budgets and materials for various programs such as Pre-K, ESL/Bilingual, Spanish Immersion, Languages other than English, Title I, etc.
Since 1985, the Cook family has enjoyed being Texas transplants and are all still blooming where they were planted in this community all those years ago (or within a 300 mile radius at least). Trilla's husband Dale works in Houston. Her son, Matthew, (a journalist), his wife, Shannon, and daughter, Emily (age 4) live in Kingwood. Her daughter Tracie is 'living the dream,' as they say, by residing and working in Austin. Trilla also enjoys working as a part-time sales associate and sales representative for two locally owned Christian gifts and jewelry companies: Tidings of Love, Inc. and Not So Plain Jane, Inc.
Regarding her work with The Tribune she says, "It's a new adventure every day and I love the variety, the teamwork and doing something that I think gives back to the community."
