June 30, 2022 – The Harris County Flood Control District is monitoring the potential for heavy rainfall over the area with possible street flooding, especially southeast Harris County tonight into Friday.   The Flood Operations Team will monitor rainfall trends and check gages that measure rainfall amounts and water levels in bayous and creeks and coordinate with local, regional, and federal partners on the response and forecast of both heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

Harris County, Texas --Today, Harris County Commissioners Court enacted a burn ban due to an increased threat of wildfires across unincorporated Harris County. There are now 171 Texas counties with burn bans, including Harris, Galveston, Waller, Fort Bend, Brazoria and Liberty counties. 

Only mid-way through June and Texas has already seen extreme heat and very little rain this summer, with the trend predicted to continue. The anticipation of drought can bring many thoughts to mind from water shortages to increased wildfire risk, but what do drought conditions mean for our trees?

Today the Texas General Land Office announced its public outreach initiative to encourage Texans to be prepared and stay prepared for hurricane season, which began Wednesday, June 1 and runs through November 30, 2022.

This Tuesday, Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey will be asking Commissioners Court members to approve the creation of the first-ever Harris County Safe School Commission.
