Humble ISD budget approved with $10.8 million increase

The Humble ISD 2020/2021 school year budget was approved during a working session on Tuesday, June 16 with an increase of $10,820,000.

Abandoned oil wells endanger Forest Cove residents

Hundreds march in downtown Humble in show of unity

On June 9, First Love Church, along with Strawbridge United Methodist Church and First Methodist Humble, organized a community unity walk. The purpose of the event, according to its lead organizer and First Love Church Pastor Eric Lacy, was to promote unity within the local community.

Humble ISD addresses racism issues at board meeting

Diversity, inclusion and forward progression were at the forefront of Humble ISD’s regular school board meeting Tuesday night, June 9, as boardmember Martina Lemond Dixon solicited the district to create an official diversity statement and mandate inclusion training. During the section designated to comments by individual board members, Dixon shared what she called “a very painful and personal” account of an instance when she was once pulled over by law enforcement officers en route to Atlanta and how that memory relates to today’s current events.

Martin updates TIRZ on Houston’s budget, HPD

 “After several weeks of discussions and presentations, we passed our budget yesterday. The general fund budget was $2.3 billion,”  Houston Mayor Pro Tem Dave Martin told the Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority and Tax Increment Zone # 10 (TIRZ) at the June meeting. He explained the remainder of the overall $5.10 budget was made up mainly of capital improvement items and requirements. He noted the budget passed unanimously.
