Greentree fifth-grader to represent HISD at spelling bee

A large crowd of family and friends watched in amazement as the Humble ISD District Spelling Bee took place Feb. 18. It took nearly three hours of hard competition to determine a champion and alternate to represent the district in the televised Houston PBS Spelling Bee April 1.

On Feb. 6, Humble ISD Board of Trustees member Heath Rushing officially left his CEO job at Memorial Hermann Northeast and took responsibility as CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress and Memorial Hermann Katy hospitals.

Atascocita home fire ruled accidental

Harris County firefighters battled a three-alarm fire Sunday, Feb. 26, that damaged three homes in Atascocita. The incident was reported at 2:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of Ancient Oaks Drive. Officials said the fire started in the garage of one home and spread to two other houses due to the wind.
