Heritage Day to be held at Redbud Hill Homestead

Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center invites the community to their annual Homestead Heritage Day, Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. This free event is open to visitors of all ages, who will enjoy a variety of demonstrations, crafts and games, sample old-fashioned foods, and experience other 19th century activities.

Mustangs split OT games

The Kingwood High School boys’ basketball team split a pair of District 21-6A overtime games last week. The Mustangs won at home before falling on the road and with only three games remaining in the regular season, find themselves in second place in the league standings at 7-4.

Back Pew Brewing thriving in community

It’s no secret to the many craft beer lovers who show up on Saturday afternoons for beer tasting that there’s a new craft brewery in town named Back Pew Brewery. The brewery is located just a stone’s throw from Lonestar College-Kingwood on Sorters McClellan Road in Porter.

Investigation in Fatal Crash at 8600 Humble Westfield Road

Houston police are investigating the fatal hit and run crash that was discovered at 8600 Humble Westfield Road at about 9:35 a.m. on Sunday (January 22).

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Rubio reported:

Officers responded to a report of a body found in a drainage ditch on the side of the roadway at the above address.  The initial investigation revealed the victim appeared to have been walking on the north side of the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle of unknown make or model.
