Humble ISD bond committee has spoken: ‘Not-atorium’

Final two plans omit expensive pool

Bond funding for a district natatorium was a hot topic that dominated discussions in the Humble ISD bond committee meetings. However, in the end, and after much debate, neither of the two final bond scenarios developed by the community committee recommended the $51.5 million competition natatorium as a priority for the school board to include in the 2018 bond.

Changes by city may frustrate board

Frustration, over mixed signals from the City of Houston and from the emotional ravages of Hurricane Harvey, was in the air at the recent TIRZ meeting which spilled into a second concurrent meeting about flooded homes and the need to have elected officials step up to help.

The December Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority/Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 10 meeting was uncharacteristically crowded with several dozen upset residents who wanted to discuss the flooding after the hurricane.

The City of Humble held its 26th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights on historic Main Street Tuesday, Dec. 5. The theme was “A Star-Spangled Christmas.” A grand time was had by all! After the parade, Santa Claus visited Uptown Park. These cuties, members of the Humble 4-H Club, had a great time!

Ready for Lift off! Humble students prepare for launch

Even on a very windy day, the rocketeers of the Humble ISD Career and Technology Education (CATE) Center could not be deterred. On a recent Tuesday morning, the group known as CATE TNT kicked off a rocket extravaganza and launch competition.

The students have been building rockets and learning rocket technology since September when TNT, short for Tuesday Night Technology, began.

Kingwood’s inspiring football season comes to an end

It was a season of heartache and jubilation, of tragedy and triumph. The Kingwood Mustangs persevered in the face of Hurricane Harvey. Despite being displaced from their own school, the football program held together under head coach Barry Campbell, and not only earned a trip to the Class 6A Division II playoffs, but won a pair of postseason games in the process.

Eagles playoff run ends against state powerhouse Katy

After claiming another District 21-6A championship and advancing two rounds in the Texas high school football playoffs, the Atascocita Eagles season came to an end Friday night at NRG Stadium.

It ended at the hands of a Texas high school football powerhouse, as the Katy Tigers beat the Eagles 44-0 to advance in the playoffs.
