Survivors of all types of cancer were honored recently at the Hi Neighbor luncheon held at Walden on Lake Houston. These brave women were presented with teddy bears from Heartbeat Bears, the philanthropic arm of this organization. A touching "pink poem" was attached to each bear in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The club, which called their October themed luncheon "Pinktober," wore pink to recognize the occasion.
Women need a ladies' group where they can make new friends, participate in philanthropic opportunities, enjoy great entertainment and educational events, and contribute to the community.
Activity groups abound and there is something for everyone. The arts, card games, bunko, food and drink activities, travel, sports, social events, antiques and book clubs are just a few of the many available activities within Hi Neighbor Kingwood. Ladies from all surrounding areas belong to this special organization; You do not have to live in Kingwood to belong.
Toys for children, gift cards and Christmas foods are generously given by the membership during this time of year. Taking place at Kingwood Country Club, a Holiday Bazaar will occur at the monthly luncheon Nov. 13. The December luncheon will be the on the 11th of the month at the Walden Country Club, where the Heartbeat Bears Raffle will highlight the event, supporting the community.
Upcoming theme luncheons will be Jan. 8 at Raffa's Waterfront Grill, "Texas Rodeo,"and Feb. 12 at Kingwood Country Club, "Mardi Gras Celebration," when the Louisiana Connection, a dynamic activity group, will perform a Mardi Gras parade along with music and entertainment.
