Joining the diverse food selections to be offered at the Centré of Northpark shopping center, the owner of a local favorite – Mencius Gourmet Hunan – will open a new concept for diners to enjoy. The East Montgomery County Improvement District Board of Directors (EMCID) approved an incentive agreement with owner Wei Zheng to open a second location featuring a different menu and name – Mencius Poké and Chinese. The original Mencius location is on Kingwood Drive near Stein Mart. The new 1,500-square-foot restaurant will focus on various poké bowls featuring fresh fish, rice and vegetables as well as traditional Chinese cuisine.
“We’re happy to announce that another business owner recognizes the demand residents in East Montgomery County have for top-quality dining and experiences,” said Frank McCrady, EMCID president and CEO. “Mencius is known for its outstanding food, and we’re thrilled they’re expanding to a Northpark location.”
“This is a very exciting addition to the Centré of Northpark,” said Jack Gross, the developer of the property. “We couldn’t have done any of this without EMCID’s assistance. We’re all excited to have a new place to dine, especially one that has been a favorite place to eat for many.”
Mencius Poké and Chinese will join Italiano’s Restaurant and El Tiempo Cantina, formerly known as La Huerta, and several other businesses, including Alpha Omega Gymnastics & Dance, Alphabet Zone Daycare, The Center Stage Gallery, and the Monarch Health & Wellness Boutique in the Centré of Northpark shopping center. Construction first started on the shopping center earlier this year and just recently, the first building became vertical and the parking lot was completed. Construction crews will begin work on the second building once the build-out of the first is finished. No opening date for the center has been announced.
