The Yummy Tummy Bakery and Cake Shop is a local treat shop ready to deliver delectable yummies, take custom orders, and bring smiles in this time of need and uncertainty.
“We offer freshly made cupcakes, cookies, cakes and a rotating assortment of desserts that are available for pick up and to go. We are also still taking orders on anything special people may need. Recently, we served a customer who was super worried because it was her son’s birthday and she didn’t want his day to not be celebrated with the lessened options around town. We were able to work with her over the phone and come up with a small cake for her small family,” said Domingo Alvarado.
Yummy Tummy fully supports all of local and national guidance to help stop the spread of the virus, but they can’t help but be worried. They are always happy to provide customers or clients with a moment of joy in any occasion. The goal of this business is to fulfill orders and keep a sense of normalcy for customers.
“We have seen a sharp decline in traffic and sales. We are used to people coming in to enjoy sweets, for specialty situations such as daddy-daughter dates, girls night, etc. It makes us so happy to see our place full of smiles, but we have been pretty empty for the last few days. Our sales are down and this worries us because we are a small family business and this is the livelihood of the Yummy Tummy family,” added Alvarado.
“It breaks my heart to know that my employees depend on me and may be without work because I cannot provide the hours due to the circumstances. We also are facing some cancellations. This is particularly difficult as we place orders for materials and ingredients ahead of time. Sometimes there are special ingredients that must be ordered months ahead. These items are paid for and not always usable on another order. Also, many of my ingredients have a shelf life and can’t be stored. Our sanitation procedures have become more frequent and have expanded to cover all surfaces. The health of our customers is of utmost importance to us,” Alvarado professed.
Yummy Tummy is the passion of many family members and of owner, Letty Martinez. She, as well as others, have poured their heart and soul into the Yummy Tummy business. Sometimes that means working many sleepless nights and several additional jobs to keep things going in the right direction. This sentiment reinforces the need to love everything that you do.
In summary, Alvarado stated, “Sweets are associated with happiness and I want to keep providing that in these uncertain times. I personally guarantee all my treats will continue to have the same quality and taste throughout this pandemic. We are taking orders over the phone and preparing them for curbside pickup and to go. We are also working on ready to-go family packs. Our business will also offer cookie-decorating kits as well as cupcake-decorating kits to keep the kids active at home. We will deliver to your door to ensure your safety and ours.”
