Atascocita Lutheran Church has recently welcomed new senior pastor Brian Deckinger to its church family. Deckinger is a lifelong Lutheran and has been in ministry for more than 20 years. He has served congregations in Indiana, Nebraska, California and, most recently, Bloomington, Ill. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master’s from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.
Deckinger enjoys playing basketball and football, but has a special passion for softball. He and his wife, Martha, an elementary school teacher, have three daughters: Rebecca, a junior at Purdue University; Hannah, a junior in high school; and Sarah, a seventh-grader.
The church is looking forward to Deckinger’s leadership to help the congregation grow and better serve the needs of the surrounding community. All are welcome to join in worship services on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Visit alutheranchurch.org for more information on its various ministries, for example, HAAM, Family Promise, Adopt-a-Chaplain and fellowship opportunities such as book club, basket weaving and bunco.
Visitors are encouraged as the church begins a new chapter in ministry. The church is located at 7927 FM 1960 at the corner of Pinehurst Trail in Atascocita.
