Atascocita Lutheran Church will officially install its new senior pastor, Rev. Brian Deckinger, Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to attend the installation as well as the reception that will follow. Deckinger is a lifelong Lutheran and has been in ministry for more than 20 years. He has served congregations in Indiana, Nebraska, California and, most recently, Bloomington, Ill. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master’s from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.
Deckinger enjoys playing basketball and football but has a special passion for softball. He and his wife, Martha, an elementary school teacher, have three daughters: Rebecca, a junior at Purdue University; Hannah, a junior in high school; and Sarah, a seventh grader.
The church is looking forward to Deckinger’s leadership to help the congregation grow and better serve the needs of the surrounding community. All are welcome to join in worship services Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Visit alutheranchurch.org for additional information on its various ministries, e.g. HAAM, Family Promise, Adopt-a-Chaplain, and fellowship opportunities such as book club, basket weaving and bunco.
Visitors are encouraged as the church begins a new chapter in ministry. The church is located at 7927 FM 1960 at the corner of Pinehurst Trail in Atascocita.
Clergy are invited to vest and process (color of the day is purple).
