Holden Daniel, who is known as “Blue,” is turning 100 on Feb. 27. He was born on Feb. 27, 1917, in Gary Village, Texas and was raised by his grandmother, Nannie Daniel, in Carthage, Texas. He was a boxer in his early teens and 20s. He has been married seven times. He married Thelma Ann Jenkins Wright in 1976 and was together with her until death on Feb. 2 due to heart complications. Although he has no children of his own, he was stepfather to Thelma’s two sons. He loved fishing all of his life and held jobs such as city bus driver in Houston and cab driver as well. He dabbled in resale much of his life, along with fishing and the sale of fishing equipment. He reminisces of the stories of his life and times. All of the staff at Regent Care truly love and adore him. The family is so grateful for his care. Recently he was crowned king of their Valentine’s Day festivities. He is in remarkable mental health for his age and a true lover of his God. He always says a blessing before his meals.
