HOUSTON (March 12, 2008) — Lone Star College System Chancellor Dr. Richard Carpenter will discuss the system’s $420 million bond referendum at community forums on each LSC college campus beginning March 27. LSC is seeking voter approval to sell bonds for new facilities, instructional sites and infrastructure to accommodate an enrollment that has increased by 24,000 students since 2000 and is projected to reach 72,000 students by 2015. Already, each of the system’s five colleges have reached or exceeded the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s recommended levels of full capacity. The forums provide an opportunity for area residents to ask questions and collect pertinent information regarding the bond referendum.
