WalletHub recently released a study where they looked at the 100 biggest cities in America and found that Houston fell just about right in the middle for cities to best drive in. They generated 31 different metrics to compare each city and broke those into four categories.

Here is Houston’s breakdown: 37th in Cost of Ownership and Maintenance, 76th in Traffic and Infrastructure, 61st in Safety, and 13th in Access to Vehicles and Maintenance.

Those rankings are probably not too surprising to many of us, with so many people choosing to drive long commutes across Houston to their jobs and making that drive a large part of their life.

Houston’s highest score came in the Access to Vehicles and Maintenance category, which factors in the number of car dealerships, auto repair shops, car washes, gas stations and parking lots/garages all per capita, all clearly a large part of the fabric of the City of Houston.

Houston’s lowest score was from the Traffic and Infrastructure category, which factors in annual hours spent in congestion per commuter, number of days of precipitation, average commute time, quality of roads, and roadway miles per capita.

The top 10 best cities to drive in were:

1. Lincoln, NE

2. Raleigh, NC

3. Corpus Christi, TX

4. Greensboro, NC

5. Boise, ID

6. Plano, TX

7. Winston-Salem, NC

8. Nashville, TN

9. Orlando, FL

10. Omaha, NE

The top 10 worst cities were:

90. Stockton, CA

91. Seattle, WA

92. Newark, NJ

93. San Bernardino, CA

94. Chicago, IL

95. Los Angeles, CA

96. New York, NY

97. Detroit, MI

98. San Francisco, CA

99. Philadelphia, PA

100. Oakland, CA
