STILL HUMMING

Dear Editor:

Thank you so much for the two free tickets to Handel’s “Messiah” on Nov. 22. I am especially grateful to you because I would not have gone otherwise. I brought a co-worker who also thanks you for the opportunity. The performance was magnificent and uplifting! The beautiful songs kept going through my head for a couple of days, and I find myself humming the “Hallelujah” still! Again, thank you for such a wonderful gift and for offering the contest to the community.

P.S. Thank you also for providing such an informative and interesting local paper.

Unfathomable

Dear Editor:

My heart breaks for the families and friends of Houston Police Department Sgt. Christopher Brewster and Nassau Bay Police Sgt. Kaila Sullivan. I pray that everyone affected by their passing finds peace. I thank all of their brothers and sisters in blue involved in apprehending the suspected killers so the families may feel justice has been served. To our community, two local officers killed in the line of duty in one week is unfathomable. Our law enforcement community is hurting right now, but know that we will continue to serve and protect our communities. We will conduct ourselves with honor and courage. We will not let evil win. You will see that no matter the circumstances, our job is never done, and we will always press forward to reach out to our community, and address other systemic issues that plague our county. God bless all of you, and God bless the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Ed Gonzalez, Harris County Sheriff
