Dear Editor:

I believe some of you have missed the point regarding “Drain the Swamp.” President Trump (and us conservatives) are not saying just get rid of Democrats, we are saying get rid of anyone/everyone in Washington that does not stand for the people. The majority of people in Washington have forgotten that they work for us, not vice versa. In one of the anti-Trump letters to the editor, it was touted that there were Republicans supporting Biden. Those are not Republicans, those are RINOs*/Anti-Trumpers. They are more dangerous to us conservatives than Democrats. At least we know where Democrats stand. A RINO can fool you until it is too late to realize who they really are. Recent prominent RINOs have been John McCain, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Billy Crystal and a whole host of others. Just look and see who is in The Lincoln Project. These individuals are anti-Trump because they are not for the people, they are for themselves and their cronies. Hillary Clinton said she and Bill were broke when they left the White House. Now they are worth millions. What did the Obamas ever do in the private sector prior to Barrack’s [sic] presidency to be able to now live in a $15M house in Martha’s Vineyard? Has your net worth increased that much? Like him or not, President Trump is fighting for the citizens of the United States. Wake up people! You are being bamboozled by both parties.

*RINO: Republican in Name Only.

Charlton Robertson

Dear Editor:

Charlton Robertson (9-9-2020 letter) wants anti-Trumper X to say what X is for instead of what X is against. OK -- I want a U. S. president who: 1. Respects the truth. Trump doesn’t. He will lie to anyone about anything as long as he thinks lying is in his best interests. 2. Can handle criticism. Trump can’t. He usually responds by attacking the criticizer. 3. Knows something about the U. S. Constitution. Trump doesn’t. Regarding presidential powers, Trump said, “I have an Article 2, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president.” What nonsense! 4. Doesn’t habitually insult folks. Before the 2016 presidential election, Trump said of Carly Fiorina, “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that the face of our next president?” To which I say, “How rude!” 5. Doesn’t demand loyalty to him from those who work in his administration. I prefer one who pledges loyalty to the truth and the U. S. Constitution. 6. Believes in free trade. Trump doesn’t. He prefers tariffs to protect inefficient domestic producers. He said trade wars are easily won. Have we won the trade war that Trump began with China? No. China just imposed retaliatory tariffs on Chinese imports of U. S. goods. 7. Is humble. Trump isn’t. He labeled himself a “stable genius.” Can you imagine Einstein describing himself as a genius? Instead, he said, “I have no special gift. I’m just passionately curious.” 8. Releases his tax returns. Why won’t Trump? What’s he hiding? 9. Believes in Americans’ intelligence. If Trump did, then he would have disclosed what he knew of the coronavirus; instead, he downplayed it, which cost some folks their lives. A final note: What gross irresponsibility of Trump to have rallies with attendees packed together like sardines (no social distancing) and few, if any, attendees wearing masks!
