Where can one watch a whole tuna being carved or a giant wheel of imported cheese being cracked in half and chopped into wedges while sipping on a sample glass of that Old Vine Zinfandel you’ve been meaning to try? The new unit director of Kingwood Market H-E-B, Tony Klaus, has the answer. After hundreds worked around the clock for two weeks stocking shelves and readying the store, it finally opened to customers Oct. 26. Increasing from 200 to 400 employees, they too are ready to serve and show customers that this store really does have it all.
They started by giving back to the community. The new H-E-B presented a $5,000 donation to Will’s Kids (willskids.org) at a VIP luncheon just prior to the store’s grand opening on Oct. 26.
The new 106,000-square-foot H-E-B is the place to find it all and much more… Ready-to-eat and made-on-the-spot palate quenchers like juices freshly squeezed daily, freshly made guacamole, and even kombucha. Made in Austin, the kombucha comes out of a keg in a refrigerated cooler in the healthy living area of the store. Never tried it? Samplings of this are always available, just ask. This H-E-B also has the largest assortment of Texas-made products, including Kingwood 's own home-grown entrepreneur Sloan Rinaldi’s Texas Q assorted barbeque sauces (texasqonline.com) sold exclusively at H-E-B. But they don’t stop there. The Cooking Connection will have demonstrations with samples to try, as well as cooking classes throughout the year.
Seen throughout the store are more than 345 H-E-B Organics products included in the produce aisles, which have doubled in size from the previous H-E-B. The fresh meat market features H-E-B Organics products along with dry-aged beef and natural and prime meat cut in store by their certified meat cutters.
H-E-B has new additions of cosmetics, a pharmacy drive-through, and H-E-B Blooms, a full-service floral department that specializes in corporate events, weddings, anniversaries, etc.
Add to that the large variety of decadent desserts, pastries and custom cakes and it’s a one-stop shop for your next special event. The full-service bakery features the majority of their bakery products and all their artesian breads and tortillería products made from scratch, meaning yes; in this H-E-B they start with flour and a recipe, not a mix.
The healthy living department will broaden your choices of bulk foods like nuts, grains, dried fruits, spices, snack mixes, and freshly ground nut butters, as well as vitamins, natural beauty products (Mineral Fusion) and more.
Driving home from work? One will definitely save time with curbside pickup, a new option of convenience designed to save customers time while offering all the products and savings they can get in-store. Simply create a grocery list and submit an order at hebtoyou.com. H-E-B’s personal shoppers will hand pick all grocery selections and deliver curbside at a scheduled pick-up time. This service is back up and running after a few technology challenges were worked out. Give it a try… a great time saver for those who need the ease of this service.
The most compelling new features of the store are the curbside service and Yumai, the noodle restaurant scheduled to open sometime in January. Yumai Sushi and Noodle Bar will feature Asian-inspired dishes, made-to-order sushi rolls and a selection of sake, wine, domestic and imported beers.
The new H-E-B Kingwood Market is a unique new shopping experience, one someone has to see to believe.
