The Tribune launched its new website over the holidays.

The redesigned site offers a more user-friendly layout, in addition to several new features such as a Comments section, a mobile-friendly responsive design and an improved website search engine.

This is the first serious overhaul of the website since it went live in 2007.

“The Tribune site gets many visitors and after nearly 10 years, we wanted a fresh, modern look,” Cynthia Calvert, editor and owner of The Tribune, said.

The domain of the website has not changed – it can still be found at All of the nearly 195,000 articles posted to the former website over the past nine years will also be available on the new website.

Using the new Comments section, readers may now make comments on individual articles using their Facebook accounts.

Additionally, the website is now has a responsive design when accessed on a mobile device. This means no matter the size of the screen used, the website will work well in both function and appearance. The website search engine is not only faster, but also more comprehensive and specific, allowing readers to more easily find articles.

Amid many changes in the industry locally, The Tribune remains the only locally-owned newspaper in the area.

“The Tribune is locally owned and operated – we're the only independently-owned news organization in the area. For readers, this means greater depth of local coverage and local coverage that won’t get overpowered by Houston stories or reduced over time,” said Calvert.

“We are from the community – we live in the community and we are devoted to the community,” Calvert said. “I hope everyone enjoys the new website, and watches for more improvements in the future.”
