The City of Humble has been notified that the San Jacinto River is expected to rise significantly this morning due to water released from Lake Conroe.
Jason Steube, assistant manager for the City of Humble, said, "At 3:30 a.m. we received notice that Lake Conroe will be releasing a record amount of water.
They are releasing 73,201 CFS. This is projected to raise the river height to 65.5 feet. At this point we will see US 59 possibly under water and many homes in the Northshire subdivision under water.
At daylight we are sending personnel to the Northshire Subdivision and advising the residents along the bayous to evacuate (note at this time the evacuation is NOT mandatory).
At this time the river sits at 61.34 ft. and rising."
Residents can take shelter at St. Mary Magdalene Church, located at 527 S Houston Ave. in Humble. The church may be reached at 281-446-8211.
The Humble City Hall is closed through Tuesday, Aug. 29.
