It was a beautiful day last week when five school buses rolled up to Turner Stadium in Humble. Athletic and Fine Arts students across the district held toy drives to Fill the Bus for the Humble Area Assistance Ministries Empty Stocking toy drive.
Each high school gathered toys and students rode their bus to Turner where a sixth bus was waiting. Students moved all the toys into the sixth bus which then headed to Light of the World Church. Matt Smith, with Humble ISD Elementary Counseling and Behavioral Services and who serves as the district’s PK-12 homeless liaison, organized the huge event in partnership with HAAM. Smith’s homeless office will host more than 300 homeless Humble ISD families at a special toy “shopping” event in mid-December no no child will have an “empty stocking” on Christmas morning.
