With Humble ISD classes resuming very shortly, Humble ISD is offering substitute positions to those who are interested.
The main requirement for the position is for the applicant to have a Bachelor’s degree.
“Substitute teachers must have a Bachelor’s degree. A teaching certificate is not required, but it is preferred. In some instances, further specialized skills are required. For example, a substitute for a sign language interpreter position would need to be able to interpret sign language, just as it is helpful if subbing for a librarian to have library experience,” said Rick Gardner, Humble ISD Associate Superintendent for Human Resources.
In order to apply for this position, one must go through the same application steps as regular teachers. “Potential substitute candidates may fill out an application online. References will be contacted and a background check will be conducted. Once all checks out, the candidate will be scheduled for an interview,” added Gardner.
Upon completion of the interview, the candidate will be notified within a few weeks if they have been chosen as a guest teacher for the following school year.
“Substitutes have the ability to choose which assignments they take as well as which campuses they work. Substitutes are paid $85 per day or, if they hold a Texas teaching certification, they are compensated at a rate of $95 a day,” said Gardner.
