Richard “Rick” Thomas Frantz, Sr., age 70, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2020, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born in September of 1949 to Roy and Wilna Frantz in Houston, TX. Rick was the fifth of 11 children, growing up with nine sisters and one brother.
He was a graduate of Ross Sterling High School in 1968. Rick joined the Air Force Reserves after high school, serving for six years. He graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 1976, which laid the foundation for a lifelong career in civil, structural, and forensic engineering. He finished the last six years of his career at Shell Deer Park mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Rick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dixie; daughter, Katie; son, Ricky; grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin; granddaughters, Zélie and Melanie; son-in-law, Chad; and daughter-in-law, Kate. Rick was predeceased by his daughter, Mimi.

A Visitation and Rosary was held on March 15, 2020 at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Martha’s Catholic Church on March 16, 2020 in Porter, Texas with a Graveside Burial at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble, TX.
