John Leslie “Johnny” Walker Sr. of Atascocita, Texas was born May 14, 1953 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The morning of June 17, 2020, Johnny went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the comfort of his own home.
He was an exceptional student and athlete in his high school and college years, attaining recognition for his many achievements. He received The American Legion Award which exemplifies the qualities of courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service. He demonstrated those attributes all the days of his life. In 1988, he acquired, with honors, his degree in Greek Ministries and was ordained as a Minister in 1991 to fulfill what he believed to be God’s calling on his life.
He was always actively involved in his community with the Church, Lions Club, Scouts and Mission Fields. Johnny was vivacious in his spiritual walk with the Lord that resulted in leading many hearts and souls to salvation in Jesus Christ. He loved singing, writing music and playing his guitar. He cherished people of all walks of life and especially treasured his time here on earth with his family and friends.
He will be missed for his bright and contagious smile, his sparkling blue eyes, his immeasurable compassion for others, his generosity, laughter and enormous zest for life and mostly for his passion and love for Christ.
Johnny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jim and Eva Walker. He is survived by his devoted and loyal wife of 20 years, Susan “Sunshine” Walker; son John Leslie Walker Jr. and wife Brittni; granddaughters Brinley, Breelyn and Bella; son Brandon McHaney and fiancé Danielle; son Seth Walker; grandsons Aiden and Anthony Vanegas; granddaughter Kiersten Monjaras; brother Jim Walker Jr. and wife Karen; sister Carolyn and husband Dave Brown; sister Becky and husband Mack Loper; sister Alice and husband Joey Rankin; nieces Lesley and husband Chris Garland; Tiffany and husband Brian Heiges; and Ginger Loper; nephews Jas Walker and wife Jen; Jonathan Brown and wife Regina; Brad Rankin and wife Melinda; great nieces, Annabelle, Abby, Brooke, Isla, and Eva; great nephews, Matthew, Cade and Myles.
As Johnny would sign a letter, card or text with the acronym L.A.A.F. – We too will LOVE, ALWAYS, AND FOREVER miss and remember our Johnny Walker “Red”
