Harris County Sheriff’s Office investigators have charged Garry Newman Jenkins, 56, for the murder of his 79-year-old mother, Vertie Hamilton.

On Monday, July 9, Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 2 patrol deputies responded to a residence in the 7700 block of Audubon Forest near Humble.
A neighbor reported they had not seen or heard from the 79-year-old Hamilton for a few days.
When deputies entered the home, they found the female deceased of apparent stab wounds.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide investigators developed a person of interest, and Jenkins was identified.
He was last seen with the victim.
Jenkins’ picture was distributed to the media at the scene in hopes of locating him. On Tuesday morning, July 10, Jenkins was located by Houston Police Department officers and arrested for an open Texas Department of Corrections parole violation warrant. He was transported to 601 Lockwood where he was interviewed by investigators and was later booked into the Harris County Jail with no bail set. He allegedly confessed to stabbing his mother while under the influence of PCP, claiming that the drug caused him to hallucinate.
