A homeowner died after he was trimming trees on the powerline easement behind his house on Yellowstone and Grand Teton in Atascocita, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Assistant Chief John Zitzmann.
“It appears that he nicked the wires with his chainsaw and he was killed, probably almost immediately,” said Zitzmann. “Very unfortunate; a terrible, terrible accident.”
The 62-year-old homeowner told his wife he was going to trim the trees away from the powerlines which are situated between his home and the community park. His wife saw a flash but never thought anything about it. After some time, she got concerned he wasn’t in the house yet and went out to check on him. She found him on the ground, deceased.
The chief said he was trimming the trees when his chainsaw came in contact with the main powerlines supplying the neighborhood. He estimated the ladder to be at least 12 feet long and it was lying on the ground next to the victim.
