Recently, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s office retired Precinct 4 K9 “Rudo.” Rudo will be retired and remain at home with his family and long-time handler, Deputy George Henson.
Rudo is a Belgian Malinois and German shepherd cross, certified in patrol and explosives detection, and was born in Hungary before becoming a working police dog at the constable’s office.
Rudo honorably served the citizens of Harris County and Precinct 4 for more than six years. Rudo is credited for assisting in capturing more than 120 dangerous criminals and assisted in more than 52 explosive and firearms searches.
Rudo also assisted with proactive explosive sweeps for many major events in the region including the NCAA Final Four, Houston Marathons, Texas MS 150 Bike Rides and many more.
