It was a Jingle Mingle to remember at Face It! Med Spa, where Dr. Melissa Young and her staff served up Christmas cookies, delicious appetizers and drinks garnished with sugared cranberries. Cynthia Calvert, J.J. Penn, Margaret Rose Roberto, Cathy Murchison, Karen Boughton, and sisters Lisa Rankin and Kathi Douglas chatted, browsed, picked up some Christmas presents, bid on silent auction items which included a beautiful painting from Dr. Young, and took turns taking photos with the fabulous Mo Schmidt who rocked a Grinch ensemble. Proceeds from the event went to both Humble Area Assistance Ministries and FamilyTime. Guests left with personalized gift bags tailored to their skin type, filled with bath and beauty products.
A very glam Dorothy Alspaugh was busy greeting and helping guests at Kingwood's Sterling Events 2016 Ladies Night Out Celebration. It was quite the crush, as usual, as guests chatted, shopped, sipped wine, nibbled appetizers and tried on the many darling things that filled out their Christmas lists. Spotted in the crowd were Harriett Oliver, Christine Hergenrother, Lisa Prusak, Fran Fennie, Elizabeth Hoffman, Terry Tipton and Kim Maxey and the big winner of the door prize, Karen Boughton! Gina Remmes, Denise Krieger and I headed off to Three B’s afterwards for a quiet catch-up and ran smack dab into Dave Crawford, Jon Buerkett and Wayne Garrison … Guys Night Out?
The Boughton Baklava and Bubbles annual party was another fun event, as guests learned how to make Karen’s delicious baklava (I am a giant fan of Karen’s baklava and look forward to getting my treat every Christmas) while sipping on bubbly. A few of the attendees included Donna Hunter, Jill Curran, Michelle Dykstra, Linda Copeland, Bev Sadler and her daughter Liz, Sue Schmidt, Vicki Gibbs, Gwendolyn Condoleo Crawford, and Jessi and Bailee Heuer. At the party, donations made to Jessi Heuer's “Adopt a Grandparent This Christmas” were greatly appreciated. Purchased toiletries and slipper-sock baskets will be delivered to area seniors in local nursing homes.
This year’s annual Mothers Against Cancer luncheon was another roaring success. The raffle, silent auction and live auction buzzed all afternoon and a check for $283,000 was presented to Texas Children’s Cancer Center Dec. 15. Among the luncheon attendees were Executive Director Bebe Turner and husband Gerry, son Grant Turner and daughter Brandi Exnicious; Glenda Gordy of Presenting Sponsor SG Interests; Nancy Dillard and husband Robert of Diamond Sponsor Offenhauser Company; from Texas Children’s Cancer Center – Dr. David Poplack, Dr. ZoAnn Dreyer, Lisa McCoy and Ellen Jannik; Leah Gross; Diane Gross; Honoree Gerardo Martinez; Rob and Linda Ferdows, winners of the Ann Denman Award; Special Guest Henry Friddle; MAC board members Michelle Wilson, Cheryl Potok, Ginger Bertrand, Melanie McTaggart, Marge Wyatt, Ann Crawford, Pam Wilson, Marilyn Burger and Terrie Lee; MAC founder and lifetime member Maggie McCay; Lelia Beckelman; MAC board member Shirley Colona and husband Brian; Albert and Melisa Dion; Joan Imperato; Greg and Liz Dillard; Mary Manifould; Gary and Susan Sowyrda; MAC lifetime members Carol Garner, Diana Price and Bev Wright. The very generous Gregg Perkin bid on and won the 7-week-old black Labrador puppy (can’t say this enough – he was adorable!) and promptly gifted it to a very surprised Mia Hoyt, whose two 7-year-olds are, I’m sure, loving on this cute little thing as I write. Seen mingling among more than 600 guests were Carol Sutton, Kelly Paull, Susan Brodbeck, Kyle Campbell, Linda Prator, Leanne Whirly, Michelle Parnell, Judy Williams, Danell Fields and Judy Thigpen.
Ginger and Byron Bertrand again opened their home for their annual Christmas open house. The house was definitely filled with cheer as guests loaded up on Byron’s yummy gumbo and fried turkey while sipping delicious concoctions from the Bloody Mary bar. Donations were collected for HAAM and the HAAM truck was filled with four bicycles and five tricycles, lots of great toys and over $1,400 in gift cards, checks and cash which will be used for teenager gifts and additional children's toys. Ginger and Byron’s family mingled with guests – daughters Aimee and Rebecca; grandkids Benny, Abigail and Holt Arrington; mom Sybil Roos; sister Betsy Garlinger; and Colin Butler. Among the revelers were Bob and Cathy Barrett, Angelis and Patty Berios, Ann Dominick and Mark Boyll, Jennifer and Jim Hammock, Ronda and Earl Herbez, Donna and John Liptak, Bette Hale, Brenda and Mike Benigno with newlyweds Emily and Will Benter, MaryAnn Byrne, Connie and Darryal Chandler, Theo and Gary Christman, Susie and Fred Collins, Skip Curry, John and Anne Darst, Ellen and J.Q. Delap, Eunice and Rod Dennis, Sheri and Dan Eastman, Michelle and Kayla Hoffman with baby Hunter, Chris Parker and daughters, Bebe Turner, Betsy and Jim Mahoney, Diana Price, Cheryl Potok and daughter Kacy Tindall with her two children, Susan Rapant-McElroy, Karen Everlanka and Sue and Dave Seitzinger. The Byrons treat to their guests – bags of delicious popcorn rice from Bertrand Rice (I know it was delicious because I’ve already had mine!)
I wish you, your families and friends a fantastic and very, very Merry Christmas! I’m off to do more Christmas baking!
