Heirloom tomatoes

Q: What are some last-minute ideas for great plants at the March Mart plant sale?

A: March Mart, hosted by Mercer Botanic Gardens and The Mercer Society, is one of the most anticipated spring plant sales in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Enjoy Spring Break outdoors as you wander through the amazing garden displays and shop at March Mart.

Choose from 15 varieties of heirloom tomatoes to fill your spring salads with tasty, juicy fruits. Matt’s wild cherry is a long-time favorite. Then add some peppers to liven up your taste buds.

An extensive selection of sun-loving herb plants will be on hand. Grow them in well-drained soil and enjoy the fragrances as you harvest fresh leaves to enhance your recipes.

Begonias with colorful foliage are perfect for gardeners with shaded locations. There are multi-patterned angel wings and dramatically swirled rex forms to amaze you.

Additional vendors will be on site to offer garden classics such as camellias. Patio gardeners will love the succulent and bromeliad options. Collectors will be in awe over the insectivorous plants and orchid choices.

Pack a wagon, load the kids, and head out for all your spring planting needs at March Mart on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 at Mercer Botanic Gardens in Humble.
