The 1970s brought America the Watergate scandal, bell-bottoms, rock songs like “Free Bird” and most importantly, the cult-classic movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Now, avid fans of the series and a new generation will have the opportunity to see the Tony-award-winning musical, “Spamalot.” I had the pleasure of speaking with Sir Lancelot, a.k.a. Patrick Heusinger, about the play coming to Houston on May 22. Fans of the movie will get what they came for and more. It is funny for people who don’t know the series that well and for avid fans,” said Heusinger. He said that although the play is not exactly the same as the movie, no one will leave the theater disappointed. Heusinger is a huge fan of the series and is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School. In his early years, Heusinger choose a career in acting over his teenage dream of playing baseball professionally. "My junior year of high school my baseball coach sat me down and literally made me choose between the baseball team and the school musical. Honestly, I chose the musical because of the girls, what 16-year-old boy wouldn’t have?” Heusinger’s career has spanned over Broadway plays, musicals and the big screen in his independent movie “Sweet Land,” currently in theaters. See Heusinger and the rest of the cast tell the story of King Arthur and his knights of the round table from May 22 to June 17 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
