– A charitable event for the entire community – There are two things many consider favorite passtimes, eating and shopping. The Holiday Marketplace, sponsored by the Kingwood Women’s Club, is a great opportunity to enjoy both. The Kingwood Women’s Club is once again sponsoring an incredible event benefiting local charities in the area. The theme of this year’s event will slightly differ from the Christmas theme of previous years; it will still display the holiday spirit while showcasing an array of vibrant colors such as bright pink, turquoise and lime green. “We are always looking for something new; this is not a craft show, but more like a mini Nutcracker,” said Mary Rocco, Kingwood Women’s Club publicity chairman. There will be vendors selling home décor items, clothing, jewelry, children’s items, handmade holiday decorations, specialty foods and much more. More than half of the participating vendors are teaming up with KWC for the first time. The luncheon will be catered by Carrabba’s of Kingwood. They will be serving Italian bread with dipping oils, green salad with Italian dressing, Chicken Bryan with Penne Pomodoro, and their signature chocolate cake with ice tea and coffee.    This annual charity extravaganza is being held at the Humble Civic Center and is sponsored by local businesses in the Kingwood and Humble areas. Items donated by the community will be raffled off and proceeds will be donated to various local charities. “We hope to do the best we can; it’s the community that benefits,” Rocco said. The Preview Shopping Party will take place on Monday, Oct. 27, from 7-9:30 p.m. During this time, wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. All proceeds received during the early shopping will benefit Project Mammogram, which is administered through the Northeast Hospital Foundation and helps low-income or uninsured women get mammograms or ultrasounds. Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Holiday Marketplace and luncheon will be in full swing. Ticket prices to attend the Holiday Marketplace and luncheon are $25, $7 for general admission, and $25 for preview shopping party with a pass to the Holiday Marketplace on Tuesday, excluding lunch . Tickets may also be purchased at Alspaugh’s ACE Hardware in Kingwood and Atascocita ACE Hardware on Timber Forest Drive.
