Guests should grab their picnic baskets and their shopping bags for the sixth annual Picnic on the Park events benefiting the Village Learning & Achievement Center. A Ladies Luncheon and Easter Bonnet Contest will be held at the Houston Airport Marriott Wednesday, April 1. The Picnic on the Park Festival will be held Saturday, April 11, at the Kingwood Town Center Park. The Ladies Luncheon and Easter Bonnet Contest promises excitement, shopping, raffles, a spring fashion show from Etcetera Fashions presented by Tracy Stunja, and a trend analysis presented by Cathy Fitzpatrick Cleary. Just in time for spring, one lucky attendee will receive a free makeover, including hair, makeup, a dress by Etcetera Fashions, and personalized style tips. Attendees are invited to create their own outrageous Easter bonnets to win in one of several categories: Judge’s Favorite, Most Festive, Most Creative and “You’ve Got to be Kidding Me.” A group award, four ladies or more, will also be given. Shopping will be available from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., with the fashion show and lunch from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. Seating is limited and individual ticket prices are $45. Promising fun for the entire family, festivities include a free Easter egg hunt, live entertainment, raffles, a trackless train, petting zoo, coloring contest, rock climbing wall and a “Kingwood Idol” karaoke competition. More than 100 vendors, craft booths, inflatables, game booths and sponsors will fill the park. Admission is free. Game booth tickets and wristbands will be available for purchase the day of the event. Raffle tickets are available for purchase online and will also be on sale the day of the event. “Since the inaugural year, the event has grown in attendance to more than 6,000, with families planning their Easter weekend around the festivities,” said Carla Alvarez, event committee chair. “Sponsorship of both Picnic on the Park events is a wonderful opportunity to highlight your business while supporting the needs of the Village Learning & Achievement Center.
