Virgilio Davis, LSC-Kingwood art professor, wows the audience with his rendition of ‘Ol’ Man River’ in the 2018 ‘Kingwood Kabaret.’ Auditions for this year’s production are May 21 and 23 from 6-9 p.m.

Vocalists who want to hone their craft or share their gift with the community are needed to audition for the 2019 “Kingwood Kabaret” at LSC-Kingwood.

This production is a scholarship fundraiser for the college’s Theatre Department. The auditions are May 21 and 23 from 6-9 p.m. in the Administration and Performing Arts Center Black Box. The show, entitled “Bring your + 1,” is looking for vocalists who can “sell it.”

“Our auditions are very relaxed and everyone is there to support each other. There is a true sense of camaraderie in our auditions,” said Eric Skiles, artistic director and professor of theater at LSC-Kingwood. “We welcome all students and community members to join us.”

“Kingwood Kabaret” is an intimate evening staged in a cabaret setting. Vocalists will perform songs from Broadway, jazz standards, “The Great American Songbook” and more. This year’s production is June 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $25 per person.
