World travelers Ron and Tina Denoville had not even unpacked from a vacation getaway to Mexico when Tina gathered good friends and neighbors together to celebrate Ron’s birthday at La Villa Mexican Restaurant in Atascocita. Ron celebrated his 78th good friend Cathy Osborne celebrated her 29th (again!) surrounded by well-wishers: Al and Jackie Russell; Bruce and Dawn Koceja; Cathy’s hubby Alan Osborne and his mom Clara was visiting; Eddie Schauman; Sue Schauman; Paul Riche and Marlene Hawkinson. Ron and Halene Crossman recently enjoyed dining at The Veranda for Ron’s birthday and were delighted that daughter Colette Crossman could join them. Unfortunately Colette’s hubby Luis Reyes was away on business and missed the fun. Colette is back in Texas, working at The Blanton Museum in Austin, much to the joy of her parents. It was also Ray and Pat Guard’s anniversary; everyone had a good time celebrating those special occasions!  Eileen Booher hosted a Mexican fiesta party that just so happened to celebrate the birthday of a close friend. Devon Alexander was co-host; wine gurus Robert Gilroy and Howard Pitman provided the great wines, and of course, there were margaritas, King Ranch chicken, guacamole, jalapeno poppers, and so many other homemade delights. Keller Williams Northeast is presenting a free concert at Kings Harbor, featuring a crowd favorite, The 5th Band, this Thursday evening, Sept. 2, from 6 – 9 p.m. Kingwood residents Bill Phillips and Terrell Tipton are members of this group that plays all the favorites from the 50s to the 80s. Guest charity, Village Learning and Achievement Center (VLAC), will sell food to go tickets for $8 at your favorite harbor spots, Raffa’s, Zammitti’s, Chimichurri’s, Sharky’s, and The Wine Loft, valid only during the performance. A portion of the proceeds will benefit VLAC. This is a fun family affair for a good cause – don’t miss it! Kingwood Rotary and CVS Pharmacy are sponsoring a Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center “Labor of Love” Blood Drive, Labor Day weekend, Sunday, Sept. 5, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the CVS Pharmacy at 4520 Kingwood Drive.
